Favorites to Watch

Below are three athletes who are likely to rank highly in the eyes of the judges.

Denis Romanov

Out of the eight competitors on the roster, Romanov may be the most well-known athlete in this lineup to fans of the division. He competed twice in 2022, with one of those shows being a victory in the 2022 South Korea Pro.

Even though Romanov qualified for the 2022 Classic Physique Olympia, he didn’t compete in the show held in Las Vegas, NV. The contest was won by Chris Bumstead, who secured his fourth straight championship. Romanov, a four-year pro, will have to win a pro show for another opportunity to grace the Olympia stage. The only path to the Olympia in 2023 is by winning a pro contest

Terrence Teo Kok Hua

Terrence Teo Kok Hua was a Men’s Physique competitor who switched to Classic Physique. In his previous division, he placed sixth at the 2022 Arnold Classic Men’s Physique contest in Columbus, OH. That show was won by Erin Banks. If Terrence Teo Kok Hua added the quality size to fit in Classic Physique without losing his shape and symmetry from Men’s Physique, he may be hard to beat.

In Seong You

In Seong You has been on the Olympia stage, finishing out of the top 15 in the 2021 Classic Physique Olympia, won by Bumstead. In Seong You didn’t qualify for the Olympia in 2022, so the 2021 Monsterzym Pro winner aims for his second pro win and second Olympia qualification at this competition. This will be his first show of the 2023 season.

The roster above was updated as of May 1, 2023, but other athletes could enter the show up until the athlete’s meeting with the judges.
